Good Morning Dear Friends!!!
I hope everyone is doing well this week! It has been a little while since I have written a blog post. I have been going through a few trials in my life where I am having to trust God to provide a way for me in some areas. Last night, the Lord kept speaking to my heart about thanksgiving. I had songs of thanksgiving being replayed in my mind and what a comfort they were to me! Today is Thanksgiving and I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope your day is not too busy and that you enjoy every moment of preparing the wonderful food that you have on your menu and the company around your table today! Today, we are going to talk about the meaning of Thanksgiving and that we are supposed to live in thanksgiving every day of our lives. Before we begin, I hope you have made your favorite cup of coffee or tea. Let's begin!
So, what is Thanksgiving? Well let's first switch the words around. It would then say giving thanks. I don't know about you, but when I think about giving thanks, I think of saying the blessing over our food that we eat. I can remember as child, my mom would teach us how to say the blessing over our food and she would say, "This is our way of giving thanks to God for the food He has provided for us." Sometimes, I wonder how much better off our world would be if we would get back to the practice of giving thanks. I am sure, we would be more grateful and willing to help those in need who do not have as much as we do. Giving thanks changes our perspective and attitude toward life. We see things including the mundane as a blessing from God.
I think about during the pandemic when we couldn't go anywhere and just stay home. It was a hard time for all of us I know, but when we came out of it, oh how wonderful it was! I was able to see all my kids at school again and my coworkers, it felt wonderful to be back in action again. I missed my routine with my kids and they were so excited to see me and I was excited to see them! I do believe that God allows us to go through some things in life to see that what He has given us is truly a blessing from Him! This morning while I was pondering all the things that I am thankful for, I had a pretty long list, so I will share some with you now. You can also make your own mental list or write it in your journal if you like.
I am thankful for my mornings with the Lord! When I wake up in the morning, I will go and fix a hot cup of coffee and stir in some delicious creamer and head to the bedroom where my Bible awaits me. I will sit down at my desk and open my Bible and just delight myself in the word of God while I sip my cup of coffee. This is something that I look forward to every morning and this what gets my day started! Oh friends, I truly enjoy reading God's word and I cherish more so now than ever before. It brings me great comfort during times when I am having to trust God when I have no idea what's going in my life. So, if you have been wanting to start your mornings with the Lord and reading His word and prayer. I encourage you to do so a little at a time. You could start with 10 minutes in the morning and then work up to maybe an hour one day. You will find yourself wanting more and more of your quiet time with the Lord and enjoy every moment of it!
I am thankful for my family, we may not be perfect, but we do care and love one another! I get so excited around this time of year because we all get together and sit around the table and enjoy each other's company with laughter and joy! Friends, I am learning not to take these moments for granted because you never know when those days will come and go. Cherish those moments with your family and see them as a blessing from God. Remember we are all human and that's okay, we need to see past each other's faults and look at the good in each other. God sees past our faults and sees what He has made and called us to be and if He can do it, then we surely can with His help. I am thankful for God's creation, everytime I go outside, there's a peace that comes over me as I take in the beauty of each season that comes. Right now, it is raining outside my window and can I say that is wonderful to hear and see the rain outside. We haven't had a good amount of rain in a while and to hear it is truly music to my ears.
God is so good to give us what we need when we need it. So if it is raining or snowing or the sun is shining where you are, don't begrudge it, embrace it as a blessing from God! We have this idea of perfection in our minds, but we need to let go of those ideas and embrace God's ideas of perfection. I am thankful for the food that He provides for me daily both spiritual and natural. Friends, every day we need to feed our spiritual man because our spirit man needs nourishment too. Without it, how can we handle life? How can we handle a great disappointment or failure or mishap, or whatever life throws our way? God has a word of encouragement for every down that we go through in this life and that's why we need to be eating the word every day. I am thankful for the natural food He provides especially new foods to try or the foods that I only see a couple of times a year. God is so good to provide us with a variety of foods and all kinds of choices to choose from every day.
I am thankful for every day that God gives me to live for Him and to choose to become more and more like Him. I am thankful for the sweet kids that I get to work with every day, they are truly a blessing to me! I love them as if they were my own and I never get tired of all the hugs and I love you's every day! I enjoy the every day routine with them and the special moments we have together. I enjoy watching their little minds work and come with ideas on their own. I enjoy hearing their laughter and seeing their sweet smiles. I am thankful for having ears to hear. I love listening to worship music and classical music. I love hearing all the different instruments come together to make the most beautiful songs!
I could go on and on friends, but there's so much to be thankful for and God is so, so good! I love Him so very much and He has done so much for me and my life that I can't help but to be thankful and grateful! I pray that the Lord blesses you on this special day called Thanksgiving! Let us continually give thanks unto the Lord and cherish every moment that He has given us! Be thankful unto the Lord and remember all His blessings! May the Lord bless you and keep you. Shalom, until next time!
