Two Sons Of Abraham

 Good Morning Dear Friends!

I hope you all have had a good week! Today, I want to take you on a journey through the life of two sons of Abraham. This has been on my heart through studying God's word. I do not know who needs this word today, but I believe that God is going to speak to someone's heart today concerning whatever they may be facing in life. I pray that you will be blessed and know that the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob loves you with a love that can never be found in man, effort, ability, talent, etc. He loves you as you are and wants to change your heart and mindset. Before we go on this journey, I hope you have your favorite cup of coffee or tea with you. Let's begin the journey.

In this story of Abraham or Abram, God promises to bless him with a son. Sarah overhears the conversation and laughs in disbelief. So, she says to Abraham, "Take my maidservant Hagar and sleep with her, perhaps I can build a family through her." So Abraham did as she said and indeed Hagar did have a son and was named Ishmael. Now friends, let's take a look at where Sarah went wrong. First off, she did not believe the word of the Lord and she laughed. Then she took matters into her own hands and tried to work it out herself. Now of course God redeemed her mistake, but we have to be ever so careful to not try to take matters into our own hands and work it out because like Sarah, we can make a mistake. God doesn't need our  help when it comes to fulfilling His promises to us.

Let's continue on with the rest of the story. So when Hagar realized she was pregnant, she despised her mistress Sarah. Sarah then told Abraham, "You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering." She mistreated Hagar and Hagar fled from her. Here we are again, Sarah has made another mistake this time out of anger and guilt. She blames Abraham for her mistake and then mistreats Hagar. Now am I trying to criticize Sarah? No, I am seeing what happens when we take matters into our own hands, we make mistake after mistake, but watch what the Lord does after this part! The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert and he said, "Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?" She replied, "I am running away from my mistress." Then the angel said, "Go back to her and submit to her. I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count. You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and will live in hostility toward all his brothers."

Wow, what a promise from the Lord given to Hagar! As you can see, God found her in her suffering and comforted her with His promise! She believed and gave glory to God! Now when Isaac was born, Sarah did turn out Hagar and Ishmael. They were rejected by man, but not by God. God fulfilled His promise to her and it's still true today. Ishmael is the descendant of Islam. Yes, if you were not aware, our Muslim brothers and sisters are from the lineage of Ishmael. Here's what the Lord has to say to us regarding this story. We are not rejected by Him, we are chosen, we are loved, cherished, blessed by God because He chose us. How is this possible? Through Jesus, Yeshua Hamashiach, our Messiah, our Savior dying a cruel death on the cross for our sins, our trangressions, being punished to death for what we have done because we can't save ourselves.

God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son to save us! We are all invited to live the everlasting life through Jesus dying on the cross. Will we accept this invitation to everlasting life? What is everlasting life? A life of being chosen, blessed, loved by the Almighty God who took the time to create us in our mother's womb. He doesn't want you to live a life of rejection any longer or trying to strive for the life you are trying so hard to attain. He just wants your heart and life so that He can transform it. He wants you to know today that you are loved and that you don't have to strive anymore just surrender unto Him and let Him put you back together again. You are blessed by Him and He wants to mold and shape you into the beautiful person He wants you to be! Allow Him to do this today and watch how He transforms your life! May the Lord bless you and keep you. Shalom, until next time!
