Good Morning Everyone!
I hope everyone has been doing well! I am doing well and I don't know about you, but I cannot believe that we are in September! It seems as if yesterday the year just started, everything is moving so fast, sometimes I can't keep up. This morning, I have a new post that the Lord has put on my heart today. The past few days, I have purposed in my heart to spend quality time with the Lord because life can sometimes drain you and so I like to recharge my spirit by spending time with God and we are commanded to in His word. Before we begin, I hope you have your favorite cup of coffee or tea with you. I am drinking my pumpkin spice latte that I made earlier, I am now in the pumpkin spice mood since it's September! So, without further ado, let's begin!
When I think about spending time with God, all I can think about is His unconditional love for me. Think about it for a moment. If His love was conditional, we would all be in trouble. Why, because we are flawed beings and we mess up. We say things we do not mean to say, we do things that we shouldn't do, we handle situations not in the best way sometimes. We struggle in this flesh of ours, but because we are flawed that means we need Him all the more. It makes us dependent upon Him. If we were perfect all the time, we wouldn't need God and that would become pride. The other day, I was at the end of my rope with some things that I have been dealing with at work, I finally said, God, I need Your help. If you don't help me then it's not going to get any better.
Sometimes you get to that place in life where you struggle and struggle and wrestle with whatever you are facing and then you realize, I cannot do this, God is going to have to do this because I do not have the know how or the strength to do this. Yesterday, I purposed in my heart to shut myself in my quiet area and spend time with God. I read His word and prayed for most of the afternoon and evening. I asked Him to meet with me and let me tell you to spend time with the One who loves us most is such a treasure, such a priveledge. I also found out that when we take time to spend with Him, our other relationships will be made right. Isn't this amazing how God does this? If we will keep Him in His proper and rightful place in our hearts and lives, He will make all our other relationships right.
Oh friends, He is so good! I recently learned when Moses was given the ten commandments on Mount Sinai, the first five pertained to our relationship with God and the last five pertained to our relationships with others. God has an order to everything and He should be first in our hearts and lives, no other place will do for Him. I mean He is the One who loved us first? How can we not make Him first and keep Him first? He deserves first place and that is the way it should be because He is a jealous God. He wants our attention, He wants our love and affection, He wants us to be His and Him to be ours. He loves us more than anyone on this earth, He will never disappoint us, He truly loves us most!
I am reminded of the prodigal son, he wanted his inheritance and so his father gave it to him despite the face that his father knew that he was going to blow it all away. The son thought he was living the life, I mean really living it up. He was gone for a while and I am sure that his father worried and prayed for his return. Finally, he ran out of money, his inheritance was gone in a flash. His days of living it up were over. He had no where to go and his so called friends disappeared. One day, he found himself sitting with a bunch of pigs and eating out of the pigs trough. He had hit rock bottom, but he realized I need to go back to my father's house. So, he made the journey back home and he wondered if his father would want him back so he decided that he could work as one of the servants. His father was standing outside looking to see if his son might come home today and in the distance, he could see something heading his way.
He thought, could it be? Is this my son coming home? His heart leaped with hope that maybe just maybe his son was coming home. As he came closer, he recognized his son. He ran to him and embraced him! What a sight! Can you imagine this for a moment? A son and his father were reunited again! He told the servants to bring out the robe, the ring, and kill the fatest calf because we are going to celebrate my sons return home! Friends, this is a wonderful example of God's uncondional love for us. Every time we come to Him, I believe He rejoices because of our dependent need upon Him. So, friends, start spending time with the One who loves you most and watch Him change your life right before your very eyes! May the Lord bless you and keep you. Shalom, until next time!
This is beautiful. I love the mention of each set of the commandments representing the Shema. God is indeed amazing. I love your heart. God bless you!
