Responding With A Kind Word

 Good Morning Friends!

Well, I hope you are all doing well, it has been a couple of weeks since I written a blog post, but I am back with another one. I would like to share a little story with you that is going to lead into what I will be sharing with you today. So over the past couple of weeks and before that, I have been experiencing some critisim and hate comments regarding my support for the Jewish people. I would find it a little odd that these people who didn't know me would lash out at me because I would support the Jews or wish them well. I would become angry and discouraged by what they would say to me. It wasn't until one day, I had enough and I was going to give them a piece of my mind or so I thought. I began typing back these quick witted comments responding to theirs and after a few times of typing and erasing, I finally realized that I was doing the exact same thing that they were doing to me. The Lord spoke to my heart and said, "If you are going to respond, respond with a kind word." That's when it hit me, I needed to the Christlike thing to do and respond with kindness.

I look around at this world and you see so much hatred everywhere you go. If you are like me, before you go in anywhere, you ask the Lord to cover you with the blood of Jesus because you do not know what will happen anymore. The world needs more kindness and love and that only happens through Jesus. We are to be a light in this world, we are to lead by example to those who are lost and do not know Jesus. Who is our example? It's Jesus. Jesus is the One who helps us in our weaknesses, who helps us respond like Him to criticism and hatred. I know it can be hard and trying some days, but as long as we are doing it for the glory of the Lord, it will be okay. God has a way of taking care of those who treat us unfairly or harshly. The Lord even opened my eyes and showed me that these people that criticize others are dealing with rejection, resentment, bitterness, etc.

So, there's a reason to be even more kind to others. Hurting people hurt people. I like what Romans 14:19 has to say, "So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding." Proverbs 15:4 says, "Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit." We are to be kind and gentle with one another and firm. We are to have the right tone with speaking to others. Now this does not mean we become a doormat for others to run over us. We are to remember that we belong to Christ and it's okay to say no sometimes. This topic may be in another post so be looking out for that. So, friends, the next time someone responds to you harshly, remain calm and respond with a kind word. Who knows, that person may need it, you never know what anyone may be going through and they may need just a little kindness to help them on their way. Let us practice this principle with mercy and grace. I still need help some days with this principle, but thank God, He is there helping me! May God bless you and keep you. Shalom, until next time!
