Hello Friends!
I hope you have all been well this week! My week has been pretty busy because my great aunt died last weekend. So, we celebrated her going to her heavenly home on Wednesday. Before she died, she had given me the greatest compliment that I treasure in my heart now. She said to my cousin, "Katherine is a godly woman and a prayer warrior." When my cousin told me those words, I was astounded but at the same time grateful. I realized over the past several days that I have been doing the Kingdom work. So, today, we are going to discuss our Father's business. But before we begin, I hope you have your cup of coffee or tea with you. I am still loving my French vanilla cappuccino! Let's dive in!
So, what is a business? Well, according to Webster's dictionary, business means a commercial or mercantile activity engaged in as a means of livelihood, enterprises, or dealings or transactions especially of an economic nature. This is the definition for an earthy business, but what about God's business? What does His business comprise of? Jesus said these words to His parents when they couldn't find Him on the way back from Jerusalem, "Don't you know that I Am about My Father's business?" Luke 2:49 That's a powerful question coming from a preteen boy! So let's take a look at Jesus' life and we will soon find out what His Father's business was all about.
First off, Jesus went away often to pray. There is no shame in a prayer warrior. You may be saying, what is a prayer warrior? A prayer warrior simply means that you war in prayer against the enemy either for an attack against yourself or others. We call this intercessory prayer where you intercede on someone's behalf. I am learning now that being a prayer warrior is a big responsibility. You have to keep your spiritual eyes open because the enemy is always ready to attack. Friends, we are in a spiritual battle on this earth, and we will continue to be in one until the Lord calls us home. We do not war against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and rulers of the darkness of this world. Ephesians 6:12 Now let's stop and really ponder this verse for a moment. We do not war against flesh and blood, this simply means we do not war against human beings. We war against principalities; this simply means an order of angels. Remember the war that broke out and satan fell from heaven and a third of the angels went with him. This is what principalities means, they all have ranks just as they did in heaven. Now powers, this simply means that the enemy can have a spirit that can influence a person or a territory.
For example, I know for a fact that the anti-christ spirit is operating around the world. How do I know it's the anti-christ spirit? Well, the anti-christ will be full of hate, confusion, chaos, lies, and selfish. You are seeing that spirit now in operation just over the past few years. Lastly, rulers of darkness, this simply means demons. Remember, a third of the angels went with satan, these are them. They camouflage themselves as whatever they want, and people can be possessed by them. This is why they have to be cast out of someone. Yes, my friends, spiritual warfare is indeed very real, but our weapons are God's word, prayer, and praise and worship. You see the Lord equips us for every good work. Hebrews 13:21 So, in our Father's business, He will provide everything that we need in this world.
Reading our Bibles helps us to stay vigilant. Vigilant means to be alert, prepared, mindful, and careful because the enemy is always looking for ways to make us stumble or fall. It would be like it is for a test, if you do not study, you are not prepared for the test therefore you make a terrible grade. If you study for the test, you are making yourself prepared to pass the test with flying colors. Studying the word and allowing it to soak into our hearts and minds will help us to remain vigilant or prepared for anything the enemy might throw at us.
Last, but not least is praise and worship. Can I tell you something, the enemy hates it when you worship or praise the Lord. It's irritating to his ears when he hears you thanking God for all He has done in your life. Do you know why? It's because he has always wanted to be worshipped and God threw him out because he was trying to take God's place. So, it's time we put him in his place and remind him that he is not God by praising and worshipping the Lord.
So, friends these are just a few things about being in God's business. I pray that He will help you throughout the remainder of this week and into the days to come! He loves you and He wants you to be a part of His business with the help of the Holy Spirit. May you be blessed today, and I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you! Shalom, until next time!
