Hanukkah

 Hello Friends!

I hope everyone is doing well this week! I am in the final countdown to Christmas break! I am so excited, one of my favorite times of the year! So today, I wanted to write a blog post about drum roll please... Hanukkah or Chanukah. I know finally, she's writing about Hanukkah! So I am very excited to write about one of my favorite feasts to celebrate which is Hanukkah! The Lord led me to start celebrating this special feast a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it! I usually do communion and read a daily Hanukkah messianic Jewish devotional. I love watching the candles flicker at night! The Lord has shown me some amazing truths to celebrating this holiday and if you would like to find out, read on to find out more!

So to begin, we need to discuss a very important candle of the menorah which has 9 candle holders. Why 9 when there's only 8 days? It's because the first candle in the middle is the Shamash. Shamash in Hebrew means The Servant. Now if you are believer in Christ, this should tell that the middle candle represents Jesus which in Isaiah is referred to as The Servant. You use the Shamash candle to light each candle. Without the Shamash, there would be no lighting of the candles. Without The Servant, Jesus, who is the light of the world, we couldn't be the little lights without Him. Hanukkah represents the rededication of the temple that was defiled by King Antiochus who brought a pig in the temple and slaughtered it on the altar.

The Maccabees fought for their religious freedom and fought for their nation. They fought with God on their side, they did not compromise with the Greeks that took over the nation. They of course won the battle and there was a miracle that took place that there was only enough oil for one day during Hanukkah, but it lasted for eight whole days! So my friends, there is your history and information about Hanukkah. As I said, I started celebrating it a couple of years ago and I enjoy it every year! So if you have ever wanted to celebrate it or you are curious about what it's about, you can look it up for yourself and find out more! Every year, God shows me something new concerning this special feast! You are never too old to learn something new! May God bless you and keep you friends! Shalom, until next time!
