Choosing What Is Better

 Good Morning Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well this week! I am doing well and I am counting down to Christmas break. This morning I wanted to write about choosing what is better. The Lord gave me this revelation yesterday morning and I have been meditating on this word. I want to ask you, have you ever heard of this phrase, "Just go along to get along?" Or what about, "Follow the crowd?" You may have heard some of these before and let me tell you this is not what God wants us to do. This is what we would call "people pleasing" or "following man." We are to be pleasing to God in our attitude, speech, thoughts, and actions. If you would like to learn more about the revelation that God gave me concerning choosing what is better, then read on to find out more!

Now I know you have probably heard this story before, but I want to go back to it again. The Lord took me back to this story and I never saw what I am about to share with you. Now in Luke chapter 10 verses 38 through 42, Jesus comes to the house of Mary and Martha. Martha is trying to prepare this delicious meal for Jesus and her sister Mary is in the other room sitting at Jesus' feet listening to His teachings. Now Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. So she comes to Jesus and says, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" Jesus said, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things." "But few things are needed or indeed only one." "Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her."

These are only a few verses, but there is so much that can be taken from this story. Let me ask you, "Are you distracted by what is going on in the world right now?" "Are you consummed with worry about tomorrow or what next year is going to hold?" Friends, let me tell you that the Lord is saying right now, He doesn't want you worried. He has been revealing to me that all He wants us to be concerned about is putting and keeping Him first. I know we cannot ignore what's going on in the world right now or hide under a rock until everything is better, but we can look to the One who has the answers to our world's problems. It's time to start pleasing God and stop trying to please man. It's time to stop looking to man for all the answers and start looking to God. We are to do like Mary and choose what is better. We are to choose Him and if we choose Him, He shall not be taken away from us.

If we choose to pray and study His word, it shall not be taken away from us. The choice is up to us, which are we going to choose, to go along with the panic, the confusion, and the craziness of the world and people or are we going to choose to spend time with God and please Him? Jeremiah 29:13 says, "You will seek Me and you will find Me because you will seek Me with all of your heart." Is that your prayer today, friends? Do you desire to please the Lord instead of man? Do you desire to have peace and stability in your life today? Only in Jesus will you find that desire. Friends, I know how easy it is to get caught up in what is going on in our world, I know what it is like to get disappointed, confused, frustrated, and hopeless, but the Lord is saying today, you don't have to live like this. You can still have joy, peace, and a sound mind by seeking Him with all your heart. Friends, I hope this has encouraged you and blessed you today. May God bless you and keep you. Shalom, until next time!
