Waiting Patiently

 Good Morning Friends!

I hope you have had a good week, mine has been pretty busy. We are entering into the holiday season and there are many projects that have to be done. I am counting the days till Thanksgiving break. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate because it reminds me of the fact that we need to be thankful for all God has done us this past year and the years past. This morning, I kept hearing the word patience and that's not a word I particularly like to hear. I can remember as a child hearing my mother say this word often. She would always say, "You need to be patient" or "You are going to learn patience." Patience is not any easy thing for most people especially if it seems as if you have been waiting on a promise for forever and you are wondering if it is ever going to happen. I was reading a story in the Bible this morning that helped me this morning to press on and wait just a little bit longer on the Lord. I would like to share it with you and I hope that it encourages you as it did me. Before we dive in, I hope you have your favorite cup of coffee or tea with you. I am drinking a french latte this morning and I must say it's delicious! Let's begin!

In 2 Kings chapter 6 starting at verse 33, we see Elisha the prophet and the king Jehoram talking with one another. The king was distressed because there was so much turmoil going on around him that he didn't know what to do. He went to the prophet Elisha and asked him, "Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?" Elisha encouraged the king and the people telling them to trust in the Lord and to wait for their supernatural deliverance. The very next day, God had delivered them from their enemies as Elisha had told them and it happened before their very eyes! Friends, I cannot tell you how encouraged I was reading this story in my Bible. I like the king in this story have also asked, "Why should I wait for the Lord any longer or how long must I wait?" It's not easy, but God does make it possible if we will place our trust in Him.

He knows how hard it is to wait especially since we have been promised different things in our lives by Him. Some days, the waiting isn't that bad, but then other days, you are wondering if the Lord has forgotten and somehow missed you. It's especially hard when you others getting blessed and you are standing there thinking, "Okay, Lord, what about me?" You may be thinking that it's a bit selfish or self pity to be thinking this way, but nonetheless, it happens. We all want the life God has designed and promised us, but sometimes we have to wait. We may not be ready for those things yet or God may be maturing us a little bit more in a certain area. It could be a number of reasons why God hasn't allowed them to happen yet, but it's His will and His timing. As I am writing this, I am also preaching to myself because I too have struggled with patience especially when things are looking hopeless.

Friends, I want to encourage you today to keep trusting and waiting on the Lord because He will surely come and make those things He has promised you happen in your life. He is always working behind the scenes preparing the things ahead for us. He also watches our attitude in the waiting period as well. I know that's not something we want to hear, but it's true. If we are grumbling and complaining, God isn't going to be too happen with us. So you may be asking, "How do I maintain a good attitude in the waiting period?" The answer is, I am learning that part of it is being thankful for all that God has done for us and for what He is doing and what He is going to do. Also putting our hope in Him because He cannot fail, He will always succeed our expectations and thinking. Friends, be encouraged and do not despair, He will show up on time when you least expect it just as He did for king Jehoram. May God bless you and keep you. Shalom! Until next time!
